Report 2023
Impact: Greater than the sum of its parts
Realities cannot be seen as disconnected and unchanging islands; the struggles and social transformations we support are part of a complex, ever-shifting, and interdependent fabric.
The organizations we support work with women of all ages and backgrounds, with girls and adolescents, with young, indigenous, and Afro-descendant women, with sex workers, domestic workers, activists for the right to choose, with rural women, human rights defenders, people with disabilities, people with HIV, trans and non-binary people, migrants, activists, and feminists.
We are proud that 61% of the organizations FCAM supported in 2023 work with three or more of the aforementioned groups.
Human Rights Funders Network highlights this in its report “Funding Intersectional Work: A Call for Human Rights Philanthropy.” In their words:
[FCAM] had the highest score, with a measure of 3.0 themes per grant across 124 grants. Its work spans all categories of human rights in various combinations. For example, one grant promotes the defense of labor rights, migration, and human trafficking, while another supports civic and political participation related to climate change and economic empowerment.
