Report 2023
Twentieth Anniversary: Embracing Our Roots
The year 2023 was inspired by our 20th anniversary, and we wanted to honor this celebration with activities that brought together the different kinds of Central American activisms. We started with three virtual dialogues focused on transfeminisms and anti-racism, justice as defined and reified by different forms of feminism, and counter-hegemonic activisms. The response was powerful: More than three hundred activists from countries in Central America, South America, North America, and Europe connected.
This bonds of our collective power grew closer and stronger when a hundred and fourteen people, including activists, organizations, donors, the Board of Directors, the Assembly, and the FCAM team, met in person. It was a powerful meeting. For many, it represented a breath of fresh air in the midst of a very challenging and often hopeless Central American context. We saw each other, hugged each other, laughed, cried, sang and also reflected and debated. We challenged each other as movements, and we brought up necessary discussions to continue weaving bonds informed by connections, interdependence, and plurality.
We share with you an excerpt from one of the conversations that took place in the celebration, called “Radical transformations for the sustenance of life”:
